78 graduated from LNH School of Physiotherapy KARACHI:  The 4th convocation of Liaquat National school of Physiotherapy, Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College was held Saturday. A total of 78 students graduated this year, of which, 27 were awarded the DPT (Doctor of Physiotherapy) degree, 18 were awarded the MS degree, and 33 were awarded BS degree. Vice Chancellor University of Karachi, Dr. Mohammad Qaiser conferred the degrees. The best performance medals were given to 09 students, divided into three categories. Among the successful students of the Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) the first position holder was Sania Naqi, on the second position was Ramsha Khan, and on the third position Umber Nawaz. Adult Literacy Programmer on the back burner KARACHI:  Adult Literacy Program which was meant for the uneducated over-age adults faces hindrance for the last five years due to lack of funds, Daily Times has learnt. The program was initiated in 2006 by the curriculum department of the federal ministry of education with the assistance of community and welfare organizations. It was aimed that those people especially women who are between the ages of 15 to 45 years and still want to get education at an older age, which would unable them to have better earning opportunities. Under this program, federal ministry of education, with the help of local communities hired women from those communities to teach their fellow women at community centers and also provide them with the training of different skills and crafts. Rain wipes out three-day food festival in Karachi KARACHI:  Rain has caused millions of rupees loss to organizers and exhibiters as well as food outlet owners on the first day of the three-day annual 'Karachi Eat Festival'. The rain had forced organizers of the event being held at the Frere Hall to suspend their activity. Thousands of visitors were expected to attend the event marred by the rain on the opening day. Life in Karachi disrupted as rains continues for the 2nd day KARACHI:  Karachi receives heavy rain on second consecutive day on Saturday, which turned the weather pleasant, but also brought in problems with it for the city. The rainwater flooded the major arteries and roads, the rain water overflowed the sewage courses since they were pounded with garbage not been lifted for weeks ; power outages disrupted life in several areas of port. At least four people were killed and another four people got injured in rain-related incidents in the city. One man was electrocuted at Bufferzone. Slippery roads resulted in accidents with two people being killed in Nazimabad. Another man was electrocuted in Korangi area, officials and rescue sources said.
