Polio eradication drive opened by administering oral polio vaccine to several children
LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan opened the polio eradication campaign by administering oral polio vaccine to several children at a function held in government city hospital in Lakki city. District health officer Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir, EPI coordinator Dr Hafeez, district coordinator national program of lady health orders Dr Tariq Saleem Marwat and DHQ hospital MS Dr Abdur Rehman were also in the attendance. The anti polio drive will formally commence on Jan 16 (Monday). Bakhtiar Khan also conducted finger marking of the vaccinated children and said that the local administration would ensure effective monitoring of the campaign. He directed polio workers to ensure access to each child so that the goals to vaccinate targeted population against the crippling disease could be achieved successfully. Bakhtiar Khan also chaired a meeting at his office to review preparedness of the health department and other stakeholders for the coming polio eradication campaign. Officials of partner organizations did not turn up and the chair took serious notice of it. The deputy commissioner said that the pre campaign and during campaign engagement of the officials of partner organizations would adversely affect the drive aiming to eradicate the fatal disease from the district.
